About the Inn
Built in 1823, this Ocean County, New Jersey Inn was the former homestead of John D. Thompson, Esquire, a prominent statesman and area businessman, and is now a splendid meticulously restored Victorian home owned by Lorenzo and Catherine Lauro. Come and experience the romance of the past with the comforts of today in an atmosphere of graciousness and warm hospitality. Our guestrooms are decorated with period antiques and offer every comfort and convenience. Guests arise to the wonderful aroma of Italian home cooking and begin the day with a special breakfast featuring homemade jams, ingredients fresh from the garden and family specialties. The Inn is the perfect place for a romantic hideaway, a home away from home while on business, or just a change of pace from city life. We are located within walking distance of the Tuckerton Seaport Baymen’s Museum. Other nearby recreational activities include Long Beach Island beaches, Historic Smithville, Atlantic City, Edwin Forsythe Wildlife Refuge, Pine Barrens, wineries, antique shops, golf, eco-tours, fishing, boating, hiking, biking and kayaking. Enjoy a relaxing dinner at one of our many fine area restaurants. If you prefer just relax on our porch or deck and enjoy a little "Dolce Far Niente", the sweetness of doing absolutely nothing.
